March 26/27 From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

Next Saturday, April 2nd, is an important date for us here at Holy Cross because that is the date of our Annual School Auction. This is a “FUN” as well as a “FUNDRAISER” to raise money to support our school. The money raised reduces the amount of money the parish has to transfer to support the school, and so I invite all parishioners to come and enjoy the festivities. This year, in an attempt to keep the ticket cost reasonable ($10 per person), we are holding the event in our school gym, which will be beautifully decorated and festooned. I know there will be all kinds of
activities and opportunities for you to enjoy good food, good drinks, and lots of good fellowship. In addition there is the opportunity to bid on all kinds of things and activities. Please consider coming and inviting friends, neighbors, and family members. Hope to see you there!

Now for a final update on our Rectory “parish house” phone system. After a great deal of discussion, investigation, and analysis of our present land line system and the fact that it is ageing, becoming inoperative, etc., we have made the decision to go with a wireless system. This move will not only save us money but will also bring us into the 21st century. What impact will this have on you the average parishioner? Essentially, it will impact you in two, very simple ways. If you need to speak with Lori or do business with the parish, you simply call the parish number (920-468-0595) that we have always used. If you wish to speak with me, you call my cell phone (920-619-7844). In both cases you can always leave a voice mail message. Because we have separate cell phones, we cannot transfer calls, so you will have to dial directly the person you wish to speak to. Should you need the time of Masses or special events, you simply call the parish number and a recording will give you the necessary information. The new system will eliminate the fax line and the second line. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we make this change in our telephone service.

As we journey through the season of Lent, we have been devoting our weekend homilies to our understanding of what is meant by “Good Stewardship.” This weekend we expand our understanding to include “Community Service and Outreach.” Kindly take a moment to read the white sheets in the pews and prayerfully consider if you can participate in one or more of our parish community service and outreach programs. Return the sheets at your convenience.

Next weekend the second collection will be for the “World’s Poor.” Special envelopes are available in the pews; kindly take one home and prayerfully consider your contribution and bring it back next weekend.

Oremus pro invicem,
Fr. Tom
