February 19/20: From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

I trust that by this time you have receivedthe letter about the 2011 Annual Bishop’s Appeal, “Faces of Faith.” I do hope that you will prayerfully consider a generous contribution. I know that a number of our parishioners already belong to the Crozier Society, and I believe that in your mailing there was a pamphlet describing it. Kindly consider becoming a member.

On Saturday, March 5th, at the 4 pm Mass, Bishop Robert Banks will be here to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to 24 of our young adults. I ask you to hold them in prayer as our young people prepare to receive this Sacrament and become adult members of our parish family.

I ask you to please hold in prayer one of our second grade students, Lilly Kaye, who was recently hospitalized and diagnosed with diabetes. Our prayers of support go out to Lilly and her family.

Again looking ahead, Ash Wednesday is March 9th, and Masses will be at 8 am and 7 pm. With Ash Wednesday, we begin our journey through the season of Lent. Our Bishop and the Diocese has proposed a theme of “Longing for the Holy” for this season. I would like to propose that the season be used to foster some positive virtue in our life. Why not think about it as we have 2½ weeks before the season begins. As part of the Longing for the Holy theme, our parish has chosen to participate in the Renew program. We will offer the opportunity to sign up for small faith-sharing groups next weekend. There is still time to think about whether you would like to join or facilitate one of the small groups. Training and materials are provided. Contact Lori for more information. I will also be offering scripture study sessions during the six weeks of Lent as we did for Advent. They will be held on Thursday mornings from 9:15—10:15 am in the Rectory. If you would like to attend any or all of these sessions, please contact Lori at 468-0595 to let her know if you plan to attend so we can have enough materials available.

Kindly note that Lori will be attending training sessions on new Diocesan software on Tuesday and Thursday this week. The parish office will be open on a limited basis as a result (9 am—noon, no scrip sales).

Oremus pro invicem,
Fr. Tom
