February 12/13: From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

I am sure that you are like me and are still savoring the fact that our Packers are the Super Bowl Winners. The game was really exciting and a nail-biter all the way to the very end. It certainly makes you proud to be from Green Bay, Wisconsin. So continue to enjoy the victory and take pride in our football team.

Congratulations are in order to Jason and Emily Johnson who brought their newborn son, Charles, for the Sacrament of Baptism at the 4 pm Mass this weekend. Jason is a teacher at our parish school, and grandparents are parishioners Mike & Kate Meeuwsen. Congratulations also to Pat and Laurie Koller who bring their newborn daughter, Morgan, to church this weekend for her Baptism at the 10 am Mass. Our parish family joyfully welcomes our newly Baptized into the family of God and pray that Almighty God may watch over, guide and protect these children.

Last weekend we heard from Bishop David Ricken as he launched the 2011 Annual Bishop’s Appeal. By this time you should have received a letter from the Diocese along with materials necessary for you to make a contribution. This Appeal funds and enables our Bishop to put into place the various programs that help our church continue its mission of preaching the Gospel and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. As your pastor, I ask you to prayerfully consider a generous gift to this Annual Appeal, knowing that we not only benefit the larger Church here in Northeastern Wisconsin but that we also are helping our own parish family because we benefit from the programs and initiatives that are offered by the Diocese. It is my fervent prayer that we will meet our assessment this year.

We would like to offer the opportunity for our parishioners to join small faith-sharing groups during Lent. We will use the Renew materials called “Longing for the Holy.” To get started, we need facilitators who would be willing to facilitate these small groups. Please call Lori and she will get materials for you. If you have a prayer group that meets regularly and would like to incorporate these new materials, please contact the parish office for more information. We will then have a sign-up weekend February 26-27 and will have you assigned to a group in the beginning of March. Invite a friend, neighbor, or young adult to join you. I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity for prayer and sharing to prepare for the Easter mysteries.

Oremus pro invicem,
Fr. Tom
