EWTN to air Bishop Ricken's Mass, press conference approving Marian apparitions

A press release posted to the Green Bay Diocese website:

EWTN will broadcast the historic December 8, 2010, Mass and press conference in which Bishop David Ricken announced that he had officially approved the Marian apparitions at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help at Champion.

The Mass and press conference will air on EWTN at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 5.

Only approved U.S. apparition
Bishop Ricken's decree made the Shrine the first and only U.S. site with an approved Marian apparition.

Bishop Ricken had opened a formal investigation into the apparition on January 9, 2009, and appointed a team of three experts to study the matter.

Moral certainty
At the press conference, Bishop Ricken said, "I declare with moral certainty and in accord with the norms of the Church that the events, apparitions and locutions given to Adele Brise in October of 1859 do exhibit the substance of supernatural character, and I do hereby approve these apparitions as worthy of belief (although not obligatory) by the Christian faithful."

EWTN said it decided to show the Mass and press conference because of a high level of viewer interest.
