Peacebuilding in Sudan: What would you do?
The people of Sudan are at a critical juncture in their history. They will either move beyond the sufferings of their past and begin to live in peace or slip back into a civil war that many fear could lead to a loss of life as great as what happened in Rwanda.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), and the bishops of Sudan are hoping to prevent such a catastrophe. They are calling upon you and the Church in the United States to help because “never again” begins now.
As Sudan prepares for a referendum to decide whether the south will remain united or secede from the north, CRS, USCCB, and the bishops of Sudan are calling for 101 days of prayer for peace which began September 21, 2010 (the International Day of Peace) and ends January 1, 2011 (the World Day of Peace). Go to the website Peace in Sudan (http://peaceinsudan.crs.org/) to learn about Sudan and the many ways you can become a voice for peace through prayer, advocacy, and giving. Your faith in action could help prevent a disaster.
