My Dear Parishioners,
Congratulations are in order for Eric VanLaanen and Cynthia Slusarek who were married this past Friday at a Nuptial Mass here at Holy Cross Parish. We, their parish family, hold them in prayer as they begin their lifelong journey of becoming one in heart and mind in Christ Jesus as husband and wife. “Ad Multos Annos.”
This weekend we welcome our young children from our Faith Formation program and our grade school, as they begin their journey toward receiving for the first time the Sacrament of Reconciliation in December and their First Holy Communion in May. Throughout the coming months, they will prepare for these Sacraments by attending Mass on the weekends with their families and learning the prayers and rituals that we say and practice when we celebrate the Eucharist. Each week they will sign their names in the First Eucharist Book, which is located in our vigil light area. Their signing in reminds them that, after receiving a blessing at communion time, they are to return to their pews and “pray” to Jesus in prayer which finds its expression in “conversation with God.” I invite all parish members to hold these children in prayer as they prepare to join us for their first time at the Eucharistic table.
Congratulations to Roland and Harriet Ducat who celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary this weekend with their family and friends. At the 10 am Mass this weekend we will offer them a special “50th Wedding Anniversary Blessing.” We, their parish family, wish them many, many more years of married life. Please note that I will be gone from the parish this Monday through Wednesday.
I will be attending the “Annual Clergy Conference” for the priests of the Green Bay Diocese. The conference will take place at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc, WI. Should there be any emergency which would demand my being present, please do not hesitate to either call Lori at the parish office or me through my cell phone – 920-619-7844. Because of the conference there will be no 8 am Mass here at Holy Cross on Wednesday. On Thursday, October 14th, there will be a special Diocesan School Mass at 10 am at the Resch Center in Green Bay. All of our school children, along with school children from every school in the Diocese, will be attending this Mass. All priests and pastors have also been asked to attend. Because of this there will be no 8 am Mass at Holy Cross on Thursday, October 14th. Please note these changes on your
The annual “World Mission Sunday” collection will take place the weekend of October 23rd & 24th. This collection supports the “Propagation of the Faith,” Latin America, and the Church in Eastern Europe. Special envelopes will be available; please be generous.
Oremus pro invicem,
