December 12/13 From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

A special Holy Cross Parish Family Welcome to the "Original Green Bay Boys Choir" who will lead us in prayerful song for the 10 AM Mass this weekend. We always enjoy and welcome the Choir and their spouses and appreciate their taking the time to come to Holy Cross to worship with us. During this Advent Season we raise our voices and our prayers to Almighty God to bless in a special way all those men and women in the military who will be spending the holiday season far from their homes and fighting terrorists so that we might be free. We will join the Original Green Bay Boys choir in singing "God Bless America."

This weekend we invite all to take some time to tour our newly moved and created "Heritage Room" which is located in the area formerly known as the Eucharistic chapel. A word of "thank you" and appreciation to all who made it possible either through the donation of time, talent and treasure. A special thank you to Norb and Joan Jadin who supervised the transition and move. I think you will all agree that the "Heritage Room" is more accessible and usable and will be a wonderful resource for our young children and for that matter for all parishioners to come to know and appreciate the very interesting history of Holy Cross Parish.

Remember that this Sunday, December 13th is our 5th Annual Christmas Open House in the rectory - 3 to 7 pm. Why not take some time, after the Packer game, to come to the rectory for some Christmas recreational beverages, wonderful food, and the opportunity to sing some Christmas Carols with our choir, and begin the Christmas Season with other parishioners. You can even tour the rectory in the event you have not seen it for a number of years.

This week we have some Christmas traditions taking place to which all are invited. On Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in the Gym our school children will present their Annual Christmas Concert. The kids always do a wonderful job with their performances - why not plan to attend and witness for yourself the great deal of young talent we have in our school. On Wednesday, December 16th, 6:30 pm in our church, our Faith Formation children will present their Annual Christmas Play. This is also a good opportunity to get into the authentic Spirit of the Season and realize that "Jesus is the the reason for the Season." Unfortunately, I am unable to be present at the Christmas play as I am committed to helping hear confessions in Pilsen, WI.

Finally, remember that we need help in preparing and decorating our church for the Great Feast of Christmas on Saturday morning, beginning at 9 AM, December 19th. Jeff and Jan Walton and their committee have planned beautiful decoration for our church and this is a good opportunity for parish members of all ages to chip in and help get the church ready for the holidays.

Please consider helping out, it will be a lot of fun and you will have the benefit of knowing that the beauty you see at Christmas has a bit of your touch!

Oremus pro Invicem,
Fr. Tom
