November is 'thank a vet' month at Holy Cross Catholic School

Submitted by Sr. Carolyn Zahringer

November is "THANK A VET" month at Holy Cross Catholic School. To show our appreciation to retired vets, each classroom along with several families, signed and sent cards to the Veterans' Home in King, WI for Veterans Day. We will be sending Thanksgiving cards to the King facility that have been personally created by each Holy Cross School student. We will extend our outreach to service personnel still serving in harm's way and those who have returned to the United States whose names have been submitted by friends and family members of Holy Cross Parish.

In computer class under the watchful eye of Mrs. Deanna Schauer, the second grade students worked to create a 2009 symbolic American flag. This artistic expression was used as a background decoration at the assembly held on Friday, November 13th, following the All School Liturgy celebrating the "Thank A Vet" theme. The assembly featured a grandfather sharing World War II memories in response to specific questions prepared and asked by his granddaughter.
