October 17/18 From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

This past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I attended the annual Clergy Conference for the priests of the diocese at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc. Under the direction of Bishop Ricken, we had a number of speakers address us on various topics. One important area which we will address in Lent is the “Catholics Come Home” program. We will be asking you to participate in this exciting and challenging program. More about this in the coming months.

CONGRATULATIONS and BEST WISHES to Dorothy and Jerry Gerczak who this weekend are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They will receive a special Golden Anniversary Blessing at the 4 pm Mass. Ad Multos Annos!

John and Kerry Peterson bring their newborn daughter to church this weekend so that she may be Baptized in our Catholic Faith at the 10 am Mass. The Baptism of Evelyn Peterson will be the first at our newly restored church Baptismal font. Years ago the original font was removed from the Baptistry (which is now our Scrip Room) and was moved to a closet in the church basement. Recently rediscovered, it has become part of our mini church renovation. The font was taken to Marble Essence in DePere to be refinished, and it received a new top. Think of how many parishioners were Baptized at this font - it has now been returned to Sacramental use. A special thank you to the family who funded this restoration of a parish treasure and congratulations to the Peterson family as their daughter Evelyn is the first of hopefully a large number of children who will be welcomed into our faith at this font.

This coming week, long-time parishioner and our Buildings & Grounds Chair Mark Schauer and his wife, Linda, will travel to their home in Arizona for the winter months. I would be most remiss if I did not offer a very special “Thank You” to Mark for all that he has done this past summer to make certain that many of our maintenance and church renovation projects proceeded on time and got done. Mark has overseen the restoration of the church floors, sanctuary painting, Baptismal font restoration, new light bulbs and lighting, restoration of the tabernacle base, roof work at school and the rectory, tree trimming, etc. He has been on top of these projects and will continue a number of them from Arizona. So, Mark, on behalf of the entire Parish Community - Thank You, God Bless, and know that you and your family are remembered in my Masses and prayers.

A special thank you also goes out to our “Over the Hill Gang” for all they do to keep our church neat and clean. Thank you also for those who have contributed “treasure” so that these renovations can take place.

Oremus Pro Invicem,
Father Tom
