September 26/27 From the Parish Business Manager's Desk...

Dear Parishioners,

We as a Christian community have a responsibility to help others in need. Many years ago, the parish created the Joe Kayse Fund. Last year we instituted a special collection to replenish this fund. You were very generous and we raised approximately $2,000. It has been necessary over the last few months to assist parishioners with basic necessities of food and gas. We are directing requests from non-parishioners to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Pat’s Food Pantry. Our Joe Kayse Fund is rapidly being depleted, and we would like to again hold a second collection, but there are a number of factors that I will address that makes this impractical at this time. So, if you are able to help, please put your donation in a special envelope marked “Joe Kayse Fund” and drop it in the collection or mail it to the parish office.

The GRACE Development Committee plans to initiate its first GRACE Annual Appeal during the weekend of October 3-4. Someone will be speaking about GRACE and the Annual Appeal at each weekend Mass. Brochures will be available at the Mass for donations, but there will be a mailing to each household of every parish in the GRACE System.

World Mission Sunday is October 18, 2009. Envelopes will be in the pews the weekend before. This special Diocesan collection encompasses the missionary activities of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, The Church in Central and Eastern Europe, and The Church in Latin America. We are all called to be missionaries—to share our faith with those around us. On World Mission Sunday, we have the opportunity to be part of the Church’s missionary work in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe through our prayers and financial support. I know you will be generous!

The Compass is the official newspaper of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay. Its purpose is to inform and educate people of the diocese through communications that proclaim Gospel values, report the news, and comment on issues as they pertain to the mission of the Catholic church. An annual subscription is just $21.50. E-mail akawula@gbdioc.org for more information.

Blessings,
Lori
