September 12/13 From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

Kindly welcome Father Brian Prunty, O.Praem., a Norbertine from Saint Norbert College & St Joseph’s Priory to our parish. He will be presiding at our liturgies this weekend, next weekend, and the weekend of September 26th. I will be away on vacation during those weekends, and I know that Father Brian will take good care of the parish community. Should it be necessary to reach me, you can call my cell phone or contact Lori in the parish office.

The month of September will be a busy one for us here at Holy Cross because a significant number of projects will take place. This weekend the renovation and renewal of the kitchen in the parish house began with the removal of all the cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc. Touch-up painting and other work will be done from the 14th to the 16th, and on the 17th the new sub-floor and vinyl floor will be installed. The following week will see the installation of the new cabinets, countertops, sink, electrical, ceiling, tiling, etc. The new refrigerator will be delivered September 22nd. All should be completed by Friday, September 25th so that we can move the dishes and such back into the kitchen.

Projects in the church will also take place during that time - the “new” Heritage Room is on schedule. The floor in the Sanctuary, new Heritage Room, and Sacristy is scheduled to be refinished from Monday, September 21st through Friday, September 25th. The floor in the main body of the church is scheduled to be done from Monday, September 28th through Friday, October 2nd. Those weeks the church will be closed and not available for use. I am very excited about the projects because I think they will take our already beautiful church and make it even more beautiful.

As I announced last week in my homily, this Lent the Diocese will sponsor a program called “Catholics Come Home.” Last week’s issue of the Diocesan newspaper had an excellent story on the program, and you can access this article online by clicking here.

Today is Grandparents Day - why not call or say a prayer of thanksgiving for those special people in your life?

“Oremus pro invicem”
Fr. Tom
