With Sympathy on Behalf of the Holy Cross Parish Family

Mary Jane Gigot is the mother of Holy Cross parishioner Sandra (Bob) Servais.

Mary Jane R. Gigot, 88, New Franken, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, 2009, following a short illness.

She was born March 14, 1921, in Rio Creek, to the late Emil and Anna (Walecka) Ripley.

Mary Jane was a faithful member of St. Kilian's Catholic Parish in New Franken.

She found a great comfort in the traditions, prayers and rituals of the Catholic faith.

She prayed many rosaries asking God to keep each member of her family safe and healthy.

She was a quiet, gentle person with an inexhaustible good nature. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother full of unconditional love.

She truly enjoyed being in the kitchen, especially baking — you were always sure to find dessert at her house.

Mary Jane was known for her flaky pie crust and wonderful pies. There are many fond memories of her breads, pies and tortes, as well as her canned fruits and vegetables.

Her love of flowers is passed on via her sharing of many "slips" of plants to her children and grandchildren.
