April 11/12 From the Pastor's Desk...

My Dear Parishioners,

“This is the day that the Lord has made,
let us be glad and rejoice.”
“He has Risen as He said, ALLELUIA”

On behalf of the entire parish staff, I wish all of you a truly “Blessed Easter!” Take time to enjoy this beautiful and most important feast of our Church year. Easter celebrates what we as followers of Christ hold to be the very foundation of our faith – namely that Almighty God has sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to become one of us, to teach us how to live (Gospel message), and he freely laid down his life by undergoing death on a cross and on the third day was raised from the dead to new and eternal life. This is “Salvation,” this is our “Redemption.” We no longer need fear death; because of our Baptism, we have been given the promise that we too shall share in the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Alleluia, Alleluia.

A special word of “THANK YOU” to all who have worked so very much and have devoted so much of their time so that we as a faith community could worthily and reverently celebrate the mysteries of our faith this past “HOLY WEEK." Thank you to our choirs, their directors, for the beautiful music which is so very important to our Liturgy. Thank you to our sacristans, worship committee, our servers and all who participated in the liturgies. Thank you to our environment committee who have so beautifully decorated our worship space. Thank you for all who have cleaned our church so faithfully – thank you, thank you – all you do is deeply appreciated.

Next Saturday our School will hold it Annual Dinner Dance and Auction. This annual fun/fund raiser is a very important event not only for our school but for the entire parish because the money raised helps us maintain not only our school but continue the excellent and cutting-edge quality of education that we have here at Holy Cross. Whenever I meet our bishops or priests of the Diocese they always remark to me the great job that we as a faith community are doing here at Bay Settlement, not only as a parish but as a school providing excellent Catholic Education. All of that is only possible because of your support. I ask your support of our Auction. If you cannot attend perhaps you can buy a book of chances for our drawing. You might even win the “Grand Prize.” If you cannot attend, perhaps you can make your famous dessert for the dessert auction. Everyone can do something – why not join in making this Auction the best one yet!

Easter time is also “Baptism” time. Next weekend we will have a Baptism at every Mass as we welcome three new members into our faith and into our parish. The Bishop, Schiller, and Rein families will present their children for the Sacrament of Baptism. Congratulations and know that you and your children will be help in prayer by the people of Holy Cross Parish Family.

“Oremus pro invicem”
Fr Tom
