Holy Cross third graders find that tending plants nurtures minds and spirits

Submitted by Mrs. Mary Wennesheimer

The third graders at Holy Cross Catholic School are currently working on the Einstein Unit---Plant Growth and Development. The students have planted Brassica seeds and are currently caring for them. They observe, measure, and graph their results. They will watch a seed grow from a small seed to a plant, bearing seeds. This teaches them an awareness of the interaction between plants and animals, and ultimately fosters a reverence for life.
