At Holy Cross Catholic School since: 2003
Mrs. Scovell commented on her classes at Holy Cross Catholic School: It is a blessing and a joy to share God's gift of music with the wonderful young people at Holy Cross Catholic School. Just as sacraments honor and celebrate the milestones in our lives, music defines both the profound and simple moments of our lives. There is little that we remember, mourn or celebrate that doesn't involve music: consoling a baby, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, sports events, political rallies, etc. Music is the only curricular area that can honestly say it embraces math, science, language, history, religion and the other performing arts. It is a marvelous cross-curricular medium and an endless source of teaching material. Who wouldn't love teaching music!
Free time: Mrs. Scovell and her husband Jim have four grown children and one grandchild. Everybody in her family plays at least one musical instrument, sings, and loves history and the arts. There are six "grandcritters" in the family; a Newfoundland, a Lab, two Hound dogs, and two black cats. Mrs. Scovell commented: “The house is full when we're all home!”
In her spare time Mrs. Scovell enjoys reading, history, gardening, and of course, music.
